Mystic Tea Party are an Australian alternative rock band from Melbourne. Formed in 2021, as a ‘Quarantine Baby’ by vocalist Blume, and producer Sebastian Walach, they are becoming one of Melbourne’s most eagerly anticipated local acts since their inception. The band has a diverse, densely layered sound, containing elements of electronic rock, trip-hop, grunge, psychedelic rock, dream pop, shoegaze, and electronica. Their work received positive reception on a global scale, and is met with striking performances of equal caliber that have garnered attention and positioned them as a rising force in the industry.
The debut single, “I’m Addicted,” released in January 2023, coincided with Blume’s feature in a prominent World Pride campaign, highlighting them as Australia’s first openly Intersex musician. This catapult into the public eye marked a promising start, and the subsequent acclaim for their second single, “Aftertaste,” further solidified their standing in the local music scene. Featured in esteemed publications like Harpers Bazaar, Vice, Mamamia, News.com.au, Body+Soul and Daily Mail, along with interviews and radio plays across the country, Mystic Tea Party gained widespread recognition. Now, fans and music enthusiasts eagerly await the release of the band’s third single, “Honey,” scheduled for 2024, as the anticipation continues to build for Mystic Tea Party’s evolving and refined blend of genres.
Not content with local acclaim alone, the band, consisting of Blume, Sebastian Walach is gearing up for Australian tours during the festival season, with Aaron Muller on drums and Adam Brown on bass guitar. Taking their show on the road promises to showcase their captivating live performances to a broader audience, solidifying their position as a band to watch in the Australian music scene.
